The Big Bang boots have a normal work boot lace-up style arrangement with added features for motorcycling. Across the instep there is a motocross-style strap and buckle which offers a bit more security to keep the boots on your feet in case of a fall. You can also use the buckle to hold in the ends of the boot laces (loose laces and motorcycles don't mix). These boots have substantial overlays in the toe and heel areas which will provide some impact protection in case of a fall. The layer over the toe will hold up to shifting. The soles of these boots are thicker than sport boots so they should last a long time, but those with race-bike type shifters might have a bit of trouble shifting with a boot of this size, but it should be fine for street bikes and cruisers.

When I received the boots I was surprised how much bigger/ bulkier they are than expected. These boots will definitely protect your ankles & feet. As far as sizing goes they are pretty accurate. I like them.
